Wild Sky Adventure Learning is a Saskatchewan-based non-profit organization run by parents, teachers, and nature lovers. We are dedicated to creating experiential learning opportunities on the land & under the sky for children and adults. We facilitate learning that is adventurous, guided by curiosity, and exploratory in nature.

What We Do
Wild Sky Adventure Learning is focused on two primary projects at present. Our Forest Kids Summer Camp is week long, family-involved camp that takes place in July & August at the Ness Creek Site in north-central Saskatchewan. Our Saskatoon Forest School is a day program for preschoolers following the Forest School model of inquiry-based play and outdoor learning, where children spend weekdays exploring communities, local woodlands, green spaces, natural playgrounds and outdoor classrooms along and around the South Saskatchewan River, acknowledged as the Treaty 6 Territory.

Our History
We find it important to honour the legacy of the Saskatchewan Boreal Forest Learning Centre, the organization who’s footsteps we follow in, and who’s vision we carry forward as we blaze a new trail in land-based learning in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Boreal Forest Learning Centre worked for over a decade to bring children into the forest, and the forest into the classroom, to build the extensive trail system at Ness Creek, and to educate on the wonders and importance of the boreal forest ecosystem. We carry the Sask BFLC’s strong legacy of deep reverence for the land - forest & prairie and all in between - into our work as Wild Sky Adventure Learning.

Meet Andrew!

I am passionate about early learning & nature. I am currently the lead programmer for both the Wild Sky Forest Kids Summer Camps and the Saskatoon Forest School!

My Journey began about 15 years ago when I enrolled into the early childhood program at Georgian College. I have since worked in the field of Early Learning for 13 years and in 4 different provinces. I have run nursery programs, summer camps, and most recently, was an intern director for Preston Early Learning in Saskatoon. During this time, I have attended and soaked in many different workshops, conferences, wilderness first aid classes, and professional development programs in the field of early childhood education and land based learning. Even as an adult, the learning never ends. Most recently, I obtained my Forest School Practitioner Certificate from the Child & Nature Alliance of Canada. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow the community of land-based learning for early years in Saskatchewan with lots of play and adventure along the way.

Meet Kjelti!

I’m the board chair for Wild Sky Adventure Learning! I also love taking children into the Forest Garden at Ness Creek for hands-on ecological gardening fun!

I cultivate a passionate relationship with Mother Earth as an educator, permaculturalist, herbalist, & artist. My experience spans diverse ways of connecting children & adults to nature through art and ecology. I have been involved as a facilitator, guide, & teacher in multiple land-based educational projects in Saskatchewan since 2011; including land-based learning with all school grades throughout Living Sky School Division, programming in the Ness Creek Forest Garden, and at the Wild Sky Learning Forest Kids Camp.
