Nonprofit Operations

We run as a nonprofit, but that does not mean we do not need funds to operate. See below for further information.

Wild Sky Finances and How We Are Funded

To bring our programs to you, Wild Sky has a number of costs to consider.  First and foremost, we would like to ensure that our instructors are receiving fair and equitable compensation for the role that they have taken on.  Teaching is and will always be, one of the toughest, most compassion filled professions there is.  Our instructors deserve to be paid a living wage and to lead a positive work/life balance.  Our instructors work short days, receive paid planning time and professional development opportunities.  They receive support from an administrator to allow them to spend their time with learners/students, without administrative pressure.

So when you pay your fees, where does the money go…

  1. Instructor wages: Our instructors make between $18 and $30 per hour

  2. To operational costs of Wild Sky Adventure Learning Incorporated (for a detailed breakdown, please enquire).

Now, there are opportunities where we might be able to reduce costs to you, through funding.  Funding comes from a multitude of sources and there are a number of opportunities out there.  We at Wild Sky are seeking to develop a Funding Model that is both ethical in terms of where the money comes from and sustainable, in terms of limiting changes to our program fees and ensuring that our instructors wages respond to the cost of living here in Saskatoon.

There are those for whom the cost of current fees is a barrier.  For these individuals, we have created bursary opportunities, for each program that we offer.  If cost is a barrier to you joining our programs, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
